The crazy idea I got to Hike to Blue Mountain Peak
“Why not seize the pleasure at once? -- How often is happiness destroyed by preparation, foolish preparation!”
― Jane Austen, Emma
Bryanna, Julisa and I decided to hike to the Peak of Blue Mountain on February 4 2018. That’s how unprepared and spontaneous I was when I started exploring my island Jamaica. I have improved a little over the years.
I decided to hike to Blue Mountain Peak not knowing the severity of the hike. We didn’t have the proper hiking gears. The rangers didn’t even know we coming.
We took a 77 JUTC bus to Papine then a taxi from Papine located at Chandon place near the Texaco Gas Station to Mavis Bank.
Our final stop was at a shop where men were playing dominos. I told them I wanted to do the hike to Blue Mountain. They ask if the rangers knew we were coming and I said no. They started to laugh. They asked if I was crazy.
They said I need to do my research before doing the hike. I asked if any river was nearby and they said yes.
One of the men followed us to the rivers. He said they are called Green and Yallahs River.
If it wasn’t for me being so unprepared, I would have found a river that flows into another.
The girls loved it and so did I. Bryanna was freezing cold because the rain started to fall. It didn't stop us from having a great time. continue scrolling to see more pictures of Yallahs and Green Rivers.
