I had such a great time at Sommerset Waterfall. Hence I had to return “Portie” which is the nickname for the beautiful parish of Portland.

If you have been following me Instagram and reading my travel stories on my blog, you would know Portland is where I fell in love with exploring my island Jamaica.

Our journey started in HWT where we took the Portland coaster bus located South Odeon Avenue across from the Transport Centre.

Our journey to Sommerset Fall took us through Constant Spring, Stony Hill, Golden Spring, Temple Hall, passing the Brandon Hill community onto the winding Junction Road, Castleton, Devon Pen, Anotto Bay, Buff Bay then into Hope Bay where the beautiful Sommerset Waterfall is located.

When we got to Hope Bay, I saw a sign on the right of the A4 highway. I shouted, “one-stop driva” (which mean can I have a stop at the spot he’s about to reach or current at) My first visit, I asked the “ducta” which short for conductor(He/She is the person who collects the fare and load the bus with passengers) for a stop at the destination.

The bus stopped on a few occasions at major towns to pick up passengers and for passenger who has arrived at their destinations.

We paid the admission fee was JMD 850.00 and we got an armband and a receipt. We approached the restrooms which were well kept.

We change into our swimwear and went in search of a five minutes boat ride on the Daniel River that takes you to the beautiful Sommerset Waterfall. The cost of the boat ride was included in the admission fee.

We walked around admiring the vegetation and the birds. Also watching the visitors in the swimming pool and water slide as the lifeguards paid close attention.

It was a great day. I never captured the attraction of how I wanted but hopefully on my third visit.

How was your visit to Sommerset Fall? I would love to hear!
