My culinary experience at Rafjam Bed and Breakfast was a long-awaited adventure that exceeded all expectations. Some of the best adventures take you by surprise, and my visit to Rafjam Bed and Breakfast was no exception. Nestled in the heart of St. Andrew, this hidden paradise boasts waterfalls that remain largely unknown due to their location on private property.

Embarking on my YouTube journey has taken me to nearly 200 locations across Jamaica, unveiling hidden gems and revisiting beloved spots. Recently, I returned to one of my favorite retreats in St. Andrew, the serene Raf Jam Bed and Breakfast. Accompanied by fellow content creator Otis, known as @bwoyfoodie on Instagram and @bwoyfoodie on TikTok. We set out for a day of exploration and culinary creativity at Raf Jam's lesser-known waterfall.

Rafjam has always been my sanctuary for relaxation. This time, Otis and I traveled to Papine, carrying our makeshift kitchen on public transport. Yes, you read that right—we brought pots, utensils, coals, saltfish, okra, green plantains, green bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and more.

Our adventure began at the Texaco Gas Station in Papine, where we waited for about ten minutes before catching a taxi to the Redlight District. The drive through the scenic, tranquil landscape reminded me of why I cherish exploring Jamaica.

Upon reaching the Redlight District, we trekked along Hopewell Road for about fifteen minutes until we arrived at Raf Jam, where a pre-booked day pass ensured our entry.

Our first stop was the enchanting Raf Jam Waterfall. This was my fourth visit, yet the magic of the cascading water felt as fresh as the first time.

Arriving at Rafjam felt like stepping into a secret garden. The serene atmosphere and the promise of a hidden waterfall added to our excitement. Though not widely known due to its private nature, Rafjam's charm was immediately apparent.

On my second visit to Rafjam, the day began with an adventure at the Blue Hole in St. Ann, but Abby and I were not ready for the excitement to end. On a whim, we decided to spend the rest of our Saturday at Rafjam Bed and Breakfast, a place I'd heard whispers about.

The waterfalls, though not widely publicized, promised an intimate encounter with nature's beauty.

Curiosity led me to ask about other waterfalls on the property, and that's when I learned about the second waterfall. Eager to explore, I set out to find this secluded spot. The journey was as delightful as the destination, with lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature guiding our way.

The waterfalls at Rafjam were more than just picturesque—they were a haven of tranquility.

Abby and I spent hours basking in the natural beauty, taking photos, and simply enjoying the serene surroundings. It was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, far from the usual tourist spots.

Otis and I spent a few hours taking photos and enjoying the cold, refreshing cascade, which was a different experience compared to my visit with Abby. Since this adventure involved cooking, we couldn't linger too long at the first waterfall, as the second waterfall was our main focus.

Next, we ventured to the second, unnamed waterfall on the property. The trek involved climbing a steep hill and passing a small coffee farm surrounded by banana and mango trees.

We navigated through the river, clambering over rocks until we reached the perfect spot for our culinary adventure.

Otis took charge of the fire, gathering dry sticks and leaves to set up our makeshift stove.

While completing my duties as assistant chef and seeing the magic we were surrounded by, It was a beautiful reminder of the wonders that lie off the beaten path.

Whether it's a well-planned trip or a spontaneous adventure, there's always something magical waiting to be discovered.

Our meal of the day was pressed plantains with saltfish and okra.

While Otis cooked, I seized the opportunity to create content and bask in the beauty of the waterfall.

Rafjam Bed and Breakfast proved to be a hidden paradise, filled with beautiful memories and unexpected discoveries.

If you find yourself yearning for a serene retreat and a touch of adventure, this is the place to be.

Every corner of Rafjam offered picturesque views perfect for capturing memories.

Armed with more than one swimsuit, I was ready for any photo opportunity that presented itself.

The waterfalls provided a stunning backdrop for spontaneous photoshoots, adding to the enchantment of the day.

he tranquility of Rafjam, combined with the thrill of discovering a hidden waterfall, made for an unforgettable experience.

The lush landscapes, the soothing sound of cascading water, and the peaceful ambiance created a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Before lunch, we brewed hibiscus tea with honey and fresh lemons picked from a nearby tree—a refreshing treat that convinced me never to make hibiscus tea without lemon or lime again.

Once the food was ready, Otis served a delicious meal by the waterfall.

We enjoyed our feast, chatting about the stunning scenery, the icy river water, and our luck in having the place to ourselves.

The meal was outstanding, adding to the day’s enchantment.

After another dip in the river, we packed up and returned to the mini natural pool on the property, reflecting on our adventure and soaking in the serenity.

Raf Jam Bed and Breakfast is a true hidden gem in St. Andrew, offering tranquility, adventure, and unique experiences. Whether you’re visiting for the waterfalls, the stunning scenery, or a culinary adventure, it’s a place that promises unforgettable memories.

Our return journey was met with a challenge – a long wait for transportation back to Papine. As the sun set, we captured beautiful photos and silently hoped for a taxi. It was a Sunday, and most people were home preparing for the week ahead, making public transportation scarce.

Night fell, and we were still in the Redlight District. Just as I considered renting an Airbnb for the night, the same taxi driver who brought us earlier, kindly accommodated our return to Papine. He remembered us and mentioned he was finishing his work as a farmer. Sundays are not ideal for public transportation adventures.

Our day at Rafjam Bed and Breakfast was filled with exploration, culinary creativity, and the simple joy of nature. Exploring Rafjam Bed and Breakfast and its hidden waterfall was an unforgettable experience, enhanced by the camaraderie with Otis and the unique challenges of traveling with our makeshift kitchen. Despite the challenges of public transportation on a Sunday, the experience was unforgettable.
