“Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have travelled.” – Mohammed
I first saw Sanguinetti Falls while watching a vlog on Youtube. I was curious about why the community was called Sanguinetti and I was due for a trip to Clarendon. My last trip to the parish was to Salt River.
There was only one taxi in operation at the time. I wanted to visit Joe Hut Falls so I chartered the taxi to Lowe Woods in the Sanguinetti community for JMD600. The journey took us on White Shop Road then into the community of Sanguinetti. We then turn on Minor Lane then onto Lowe Woods Road. My final stop was at a board shop across from Full Truth Church of God.
I took the driver's number to secure my ride back to Spaulding.
Tan Tan, the owner of a wooden shop was my tour guide and my photographer. He sells delicious soup on the Weekends.
We walked on a steep dirt track to the fall. Upon reaching the Falls, I saw members of the community doing laundry, bathing and catching water. Tan Tan said the river was the main source of water due to current drought. The Rio Minho runs through the community. There's a spring that provides water and creates the Falls.
I had to hurry because the area was getting crowded. I took a few pictures while being watched by everyone. I had on a fancy hat and bathing suit doing all kinds of ‘vogue poses’. What did I expect? I just continued. I had to stop a few times to show Tan Tan how to take the picture and he did pretty well.
I went to the top of the waterfall to take a few pictures. After that, I asked a guy taking a bath why the community was called Sanguinetti. He had no idea.
Sanguinetti is named after an Italian who owned the property. The earliest recorded owner is Jacob Sanguinetti.
When I got home, google search informed me that the Sanguinetti community was home to Rising Star and X-Factor winner Dalton Harris, Reggae Singer Warrior King and Olympian Robert Forbes.
Have you ever visited the community of Low Woods in Sanguinett Clarendon? Would you go parish hopping like I did? I’m dying to hear!
