Introduction:

As an avid traveler and nature enthusiast, stumbling upon hidden gems is a rewarding experience. St. Thomas, Jamaica, is a place rich in hidden natural treasures waiting to be discovered.

One such gem is Grampa Waterfall, also known as Coley River Waterfall, tucked away in the Trinity Ville community.

As a frequent visitor to St. Thomas, I stumbled upon this mini dam that bore a striking resemblance to a waterfall during a recent scrolling session on Tiktok .

Eager to explore the area, I embarked on a journey that would not only lead me to the picturesque falls but also to unexpected encounters with locals and captivating moments in nature. My YouTube channel will feature content showcasing enjoyable adventures in St. Thomas.

Unearthing the Past:

St Thomas has become a second home to me, and the allure of the Coley River Waterfall was irresistible.

My curiosity piqued by the Tiktok post, I delved into research to uncover the history of Grampa Waterfalls. It turned out, this picturesque dam had a story to tell.

I learned that the dam was once owned by Serge Island but is now under the care of Seprod Limited.

The dam, abandoned for reasons unknown to me, had transformed into a charming waterfall that now draws visitors and nature enthusiasts alike.

Local residents, like Grampa from the Trinity Ville community, have played a pivotal role in its discovery and upkeep.

Grampa, affectionately known by that name, oversees the area's cleanliness and only asks for a donation in return for access.

Journey to Trinity Ville:Nature's Beauty Unveiled

To explore this hidden treasure, I set out for Morant Bay in St. Thomas via taxi, costing 500 JMD. From Morant Bay, I hopped into a taxi headed for Trinity Ville.

Armed with a TikTok video of Grampa Waterfall, I showed it to my driver, who instantly recognized the waterfall and knew of its location.

The familiarity of this region felt like a warm embrace, having previously explored nearby spots like Copper Hole , Allan Spring, and Reggae Waterfalls.

The anticipation of discovering another hidden paradise in this corner of St Thomas filled me with excitement.

Navigating the Path Less Traveled:

During my taxi ride along the scenic Fonthill route, I found myself captivated by it's beauty.

The taxi driver's sudden stop led me to an open field surrounded by grazing cows and horses.

Guided by the directions given by the friendly taxi driver, I continued on foot, filled with excitement and awe at the sight of the majestic mountains.

I ventured deeper into this untouched landscape, memories of my past adventures in Portland adventure in search of One Drop and Fish Dunn waterfalls flooded my mind as I walked, capturing the breathtaking landscape on camera.

The majestic mountains and the gentle breeze created a moment of pure awe, a perfect prelude to the wonders that awaited me.

The serene atmosphere allowed me to take in the beauty of nature and capture breathtaking moments for my budding YouTube channel, Nature's Sweet Escapes.

A Connection Beyond the Scenery:

As I approached the river entrance, I encountered a group of cows peacefully grazing under the trees.

Remembering the advice of fellow adventurer Rochelle, the creator of the renowned website adventuresfromelle.com, during our trek to Bull Head Mountains. I mustered the courage to pass them without fear.

The sight of Coley River Waterfall in person was a sight to behold.

Its beauty mirrored the TikTok video, though the presence of litter was disheartening.

I quickly switched to content creation mode, capturing the essence of the moment through my camera lens.

I had the chance to meet Grampa, who graciously helped me capture the beauty of the waterfall with my tripod.

We clicked numerous photos, enhancing the memory of my visit.

Life by the River: Witnessing scenes of everyday Moments unfolding around me.

My time by the river offered glimpses into the local way of life.

A young lady engaged in the age-old practice of laundry, farmers guiding their cows to quench their thirst, added an authentic touch to the experience.

Families arrived, some for a quick photo opportunity, and others for a lively splash in the water.

An hour of immersion in the river's embrace left me rejuvenated and content.

Journeying Back: Lessons and Conversations

With my heart full and memories etched, it was time to bid farewell to Grampa Waterfall. My recent escapade to Grampa Waterfall in Trinity Ville, St. Thomas, took me on a journey that resonated with memories of another waterfall by the same name in Hanover.

Returning to the main road, I faced the challenge of finding a taxi back to Morant Bay.

The scorching sun heightened the wait, giving me ample time to capture candid moments on the lonely road. Eventually, a taxi arrived, and a spirited conversation about Jamaica's new banknote series ensued.

Sharing my knowledge with fellow passengers proved to be an unexpected yet gratifying experience.

Eventually, I made my way back to Morant Bay, where a Coaster bus awaited, marking the end of this unforgettable expedition.

Conclusion:

My escapade to Grampa Waterfall in Trinity Ville, St. Thomas, unveiled a hidden treasure that had been waiting to be discovered. From the abandoned dam's enigmatic history to the beauty of the waterfall itself, this journey encapsulated the essence of adventure and the marvels of nature.

As I made my way back home, I carried with me not only memories but also a renewed appreciation for the simplicity and splendor of life's hidden gems.
