Return to Spring Bank Waterfall Number Five: Chased by Beauty & Mosquitoes

“There is no Wi-Fi in the forest, but I promise you will find a better connection.” –Ralph Smart

I finally returned to Spring Bank after months of exploring the waterfalls in the parish of St. Ann. My mission? To find Roaring River waterfalls that echo through the hills—and I found it.

This particular waterfall was once the king of its time. Though its reign has faded, what remains is a beautiful piece of history, quietly nestled in the hills, forgotten by many but still breathtaking to those who seek it out.

Spring Bank had been tugging at my heartstrings for weeks. I couldn’t shake the urge to return, so I told the guys I was heading back to the community to discover more waterfalls.

Getting there isn’t easy. There are no taxis or buses that regularly pass through Spring Bank. If you don’t drive, your best bet is to walk from the stunning community of Bath Fountain or charter a bike taxi. I’ve heard there’s an elusive taxi that passes through occasionally, but you’ll likely be waiting for hours—unless you’re lucky enough to catch it from Bath Fountain Square.

As soon as I arrived, we headed straight into exploration mode. I couldn’t wait to get back into the hills where I’d left pieces of my heart.

We followed a narrow path, crossed a wide river, and climbed over rocks while birds sang in the distance and trees swayed above us in a kaleidoscope of greens. Nature was alive—and I felt it.

That’s when we reached waterfall number five. Or should I say... Mosquito Falls.

We were greeted by a swarm of mosquitoes like honored guests—only we weren’t exactly feeling the hospitality. I tried my best to stay focused and snap a few photos, but my guide was fending off constant buzzing and biting. It was clear we weren’t welcome

We pushed through, determined to enjoy the moment, but eventually, the mosquitoes won. We had to run from the waterfall—laughing, swatting, and dodging as we went.

I’m still not sure if they saw us as food or intruders, but I’ll give them credit: they know how to hold their ground.

Despite the swarm, it really was a beautiful spot. Jungle vibes all the way—lush greenery in every direction, vines hanging like curtains, and that wild, untouched feeling that makes your heart race.

This place reminded me of another hidden gem I’ve heard of—Mosquito Falls in Portland. I’ve never been, but after today, I feel like I’ve had a taste of it.

It feels like there's a waterfall around every corner in Spring Bank. I almost missed waterfall number five—it was so well tucked away. If it weren’t for the unmistakable sound of rushing water, we might have passed it completely.

So far, waterfall number three still holds the title of my favorite, but we’re not done yet. There are more waiting to be discovered—and who knows which one will truly steal my heart?
