The first time I started researching places to visit and found Breadfruit Valley Falls, its been at the top of my list of places to explore. But I can't seem to get the time to explore this hidden gem because I live closer to the parishes of Portland, St. Mary and St. Ann. thus making it easier to explore more places and its cost-effective.
I have made several attempts to visit Breadfruit Valley Falls, but I was not successful. The reason was poor research.
My third trip to Breadnut Valley Falls was partly successful because it was just the two of us, the tour guide decided it was not worth doing the tour for JMD 1,000.00. She had other persons coming on the tour with us, but they didn't show.
I found a tour guide number while doing extensive research on Breadnut Valley. I called and made arrangements for the visit. The cost was $500 person, and I gladly accepted. On December 29 2018, I decided to take my third trip to St. Elizabeth with Rosheena.
We took a St. Elizabeth coaster bus from downtown Kingston to Santa Cruz in St. Elizabeth. I ask driver of the bus where I can find the taxi that goes to Breadfruit Valley Falls in Maggotty. He directed us to a plaza where the taxis are parked. I asked the driver to carry us to our destination, and he agreed on a little extra because it was not a taxi route.
After the taxi was pack with five passengers, our journey continued in finding this hidden gem in St. Elizabeth. I passed Jamaica Zoo in lacoura and a Texaco gas station. Then he turned right to the Maggotty JPS Hydroelectric station he continued unto the dirt track, instantly we heard beauty sound of the river, we knew we have arrived at our destination.
We took the driver's number for transportation back to Santa Cruz. We were the only persons on the property; we saw a picnic area and a bar. We instantly started taking pictures after seeing the blue-green water.
We called our tour guide to let her know we were there and waiting for her. In the meantime, we decided to enjoy the first waterfall we saw.
It was challenging to get to the falls, but it was all worth it. Our tour guide finally came, but she arrived with a child. Instantly I realised she had no intentions of doing the tour but had difficulty indicating that to us.
Eventually, her brother came for her because they had an emergency to attend. She said we could stick around until we decided to leave. We tried, but we needed a tour guide to explore this beautiful gem in its entirety.
After a few minutes of walking around, we called our taxi and headed back to Kingston. Until next time Breadnut Valley, we will meet again, and we will spend an entire day together. I promise you.
