“I’m the happiest when I’m in nature” - Nature’s Sweet Escapes
Simone sent me a youtube channel called PATBATAM. I gathered all the information to explore the waterfall from the video before returning to the parish I love with my entire being.
I want to say a big thank you to Simone Kist for being my waterfall angel. She introduced me to Marston Spring, Big River, Burrell Waterfalls just to name a few.

I am waiting on this passion of mine to generate the revenue to venture into the hidden parts of Jamaica to discover her hidden secrets.
I packed all the necessities that included, including shoes (I walk in the water when crossing the river) clothes, just in case the rain fell, mosquito repellent, a first aid kit, my bottled water, my signature hat. I did not pack my swimwear. I wore it under my clothes because of the lack of restrooms in these areas. I don't drive so the option of changing into my swimwear was not an option
The sunrise makes it clear my day would be filled with adventures.
Can you imagine taking a coaster bus, bike, taxi, bicycle into the unknown searching for waterfalls? Well, this is my idea of the perfect date.
I'm filled with wonder and joy when I'm searching for waterfalls.
I'm always on the hunt for waterfalls in the most remote parts of my home Jamaica.
I took a Portland Coaster Bus parked beside the JUTC Transport Centre in Half Way Tree that adjacent the Burger King. I heard the conductor and the “loda man” (the guy that assists the conductor in getting passengers onto the bus) shout “Portie” which is a shortening of the name Port Antonio.
Upon reaching Port Antonio, I took a taxi that was parked at the Texaco Gas Station which is located adjacent to the St, Ann, Downtown Kingston, and Anotto Bay Bus Park.
Final Stop. This is where the river flows on the road and where the final house in sight can be seen. He was washing his car . Hence, I did get a perfect picture.

My hike to Daren Water Began
I told the driver I am searching for a Waterfall in the community of Land Settlement. He said he knew the waterfall but he has not visited it in years. He decided to ask members of the community the exact location of the waterfall without additional compensation. I told him a million thank yous.
I cherish moments like these.
The journey took us along East Avenue, Allan Avenue E Palm Avenue, and finally Land Settlement. He stopped at a shop to ask for directions.

We were told to continue on the said path we were on until we got to the section of the road where the river flows across the road. Also; we will see only one house at this point of the journey.
Arriving at Darren Waterfall. It sexy don’t it. Talk truth.
I saw a lady doing chores. I approached her and asked about the waterfall. She knew exactly where it was.
Tour Guide, Videographer and Photographer
I asked her if she knew anyone willing to accompany me to the waterfall. She immediately called a young man who was willing to be my tour guide, videographer, and photographer.
The young man and I introduced ourselves. I don’t remember his name. Also, he’s a minor. I decided not to take certain information from him.
He told me the waterfall was named after a guy who lived on the river. He’s currently deceased. His name was Darren. Hence, the name of my new lover was Darren.
Hiking to Darren Waterfall in the forest of Land Settlement, Machel Montano's song played in my head, so I decided to remix the happiest man alive.
“You see me, I’m a girl, love to play, love to explore. You see, I’m a girl, I, always happy when I’m on a tour. I don’t got no time for no worries, I don’t got no time for no stressing. I got Daren waterfall on my mind and I am ready to explore. I come out to live me life, explore Darren Waterfall and live me life, I’m the happiest girl alive”.

When we got to Darren Waterfall, I was star-struck. Faith Evan's song Love like this rang in my ears.
I screamed for joy seeing how handsome Daren was.
I would marry at this spot. I could not stop blushing at how amazingly beautiful the waterfall and the environment were.

I’m the happiest woman alive
I was super happy because I always wanted to do a photoshoot in the rain.
My photographer was very skilled because he hold the umbrella while taking the photos.

My heart melted seeing the young man going the extra mile for a stranger.
Eventually, the rain stopped, and I got lots of beautiful photos.
I was surrounded by the greenery of different shades, clean air, and the sweet sound of the breeze. The sun winked at me through the bushes providing the perfect lighting hence taking the perfect photos.
The location is picturesque. I can't recall being so happy about my photos.
They were amazing. I kept looking at the photos knowing how spectacular they were and that a young man in high school was my photographer. He was a quick learner. I only showed him how to operate my phone a few times.
I felt all the emotions known to man. Natasha Bedingfield's “Love like this” started playing in my head. Guys, you know where this is going; I fell in love all over again.
I felt Unique, Wild, and Untouched when I'm in the presence of a waterfall. It's like I'm stepping into another world. Time stand still and I could go anywhere I wished.
The spray of the waterfall on my skin, the damp, earthy smell that lingers, recalls feeling I imagine in books filled with adventures.
I claimed the waterfall and jumped in. I had so much fun. I couldn’t stop smiling.
One of the things I love most about Land Settlement is the beauty of the waterfall.
I will never get tired of going to places that make me feel tiny.
There is magic found in waterfalls. Exploring these gems will always be my favorite thing to do.
Many call me a daredevil. But I see myself as a woman madly in love with waterfalls.
