“You don't have to be rich to travel well” – Eugene Fodor.
Introduction:
St. Catherine, a parish not often explored, became the backdrop for my latest adventure as my friend Simone unveiled yet another hidden gem – Cestan Waterfall. There is another Cestan Spring in the parish of Portland. Eager for a weekend escape, I embarked on a journey that promised not only the thrill of discovery but also the enchantment of untouched beauty. My YouTube channel will feature content showcasing enjoyable adventures in the St. Catherine.
Getting There:
My journey began with a coaster bus ride to Spanish Town, followed by a taxi journey to Linstead. Armed with vague directions, I made a pitstop at a local shop, seeking guidance from the owner on locating this elusive waterfall.
With a simple instruction to continue on a narrow road and take the first right turn, I was set on the path to exploration.
The Local Guides:
A chance encounter led me to three enthusiastic young men from the Redwood community who willingly became my tour guides. Their familiarity with the terrain and eagerness to share the hidden wonders of their home added an authentic touch to the adventure.
The Hike:
The journey to Cestan Waterfall was not a straightforward one. We stopped at a refreshing spring to drink water, setting the tone for the immersive experience ahead. A narrow path through lush bushes led us to the river, where Quickstan and Cestan Spring Waterfalls awaited.
The Hidden Beauty:
Cestan Waterfall, a well-kept secret, revealed itself amidst overgrown bushes and the persistent hum of mosquitoes. Despite the challenges, the beauty of the waterfall was undeniable.
The tour guides took measures to ward off the mosquitoes, but the allure of Cestan made the effort worthwhile.
Dancing on Rocks and Photogenic Cascades:
Amidst the natural beauty, I found myself dancing on a massive rock, captivated by the allure of Cestan.
The waterfall played a delightful game of "hide and go seek" with its hidden charm, making it an enchanting experience for any nature enthusiast.
Quickstan: A Miniature Delight:
Descending to Quickstan, a smaller waterfall nestled below Cestan, I discovered a miniature paradise suitable for both adults and children. Its size made it an ideal spot for those who couldn't swim, providing a different dimension to the overall adventure.
Conclusion:
Cestan Waterfall in St. Catherine proved to be a treasure trove for the avid explorer in me. From the challenges of reaching this hidden paradise to the enchanting beauty that unfolded, the journey was a testament to the rewards of venturing off the beaten path. Cestan, with its photogenic allure, danced its way into my heart, leaving me with memories of a truly unique and unforgettable adventure.
