My second visit to Bath Mineral Spring in Saint Thomas

“If You Are Working On Something That You Really Care About, You Don’t Have To Be Pushed. The Vision Pulls You.” – Steve Jobs

According to history, a runaway slave with leg ulcers came across Bath Fountain Mineral Spring in the 1600s.

He washed in wounds in the spring. He realized his wounds were healing quickly.

Visitors from different parts of the island started to visit the spring after the word spread about its healing powers.

Exactly across from Bath Botanical Garden, there is a road leading to Bath Fountain Mineral Spring.

It's been years since my first visit so we paid JMD200.00 extra from the Garden to the spring because I didn't remember how long it would have taken us to reach.

The final stop was at a Rasta man’s shop. He sold Pimento Oil, Crochet Swimwear, and Jewellery, etc.

You will pass a grave yard when heading to Bath Mineral Spring from Bath Botanical Gardens.

I continued left onto a bridge passing a yellow shop. After passing the yellow shop, we continued on a dirt road until we saw a shop painted in red, green, and yellow and a bridge that leads to Fish Dunn Waterfall and a few unnamed waterfalls and springs.

After exploring Fish Dunn Waterfall, I went to enjoy the hot water from the mineral spring.

There are no restrooms. Hence, wear your swimwear under your clothes or if you don’t mind changing in the bushes or in front of strangers.

Bath Fountain has a lot of hustlers. I paid JMD500.00 for my first massage on my first visit because of my good negotiation skills.

Some of the prices quoted for massages are ridiculously high. Hence, a reasonable price is based on how good you can bargain.

There are lots of harassment by men and women who want to overprice you for a massage.

When approached by the men for a massage, I told them not today or next time for them to leave us alone. In some instances, we honestly told them we did not want a massage.

The water smells like a rotten egg because of the Hydrogen Sulphide gas present in it. Please don’t be alarmed.

I made my way to the overhead bamboo that resembles a shower. I just wanted to stay at that spot but others were lining up for the bamboo hot water shower experience.

There were a few PVC pipes that offered the same experience as the bamboo.

A pool was created to trap the hot water to make it easy to access. There were a few PVC pipes that offered the same experience as the bamboo.

The hot water from the rocks and the icy cold water from the river is just perfect. Be careful, you can suffer first-degree burns so be careful when enjoying the hot water.

Despite all CONS, you get to experience nature in her rawest form.

I purchased a Pimento Oil when leaving. It cost JMD500.00. I loved the smell and I wanted to support his business.

Our final stop was at Bath Botanical Garden that I was dying to visit for the longest while.
